New in stores: Lunds & Byerlys Gelato
Our new artisan gelato is made by GS Gelato, a Florida-based company started by a couple, Guido and Simona, who moved to the U.S. from Italy in 1996. In order to produce authentic Italian gelato, they import their equipment and ingredients directly from Italy.
Wondering what the difference is between gelato and ice cream? The answer: Gelato is churned at a slower speed, giving it a denser, creamier texture with a more intense flavor than ice cream. Plus, gelato uses less cream, so it usually has less fat than ice cream. It is great for desserts, smoothies, milkshakes and even cocktails.
